Holistic and Inpatient Drug Rehab

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

Drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs that offer a long term care are more effective than programs which only offer 21, 28, or 30 day programs. Its not to say that that shorter termed programs don’t work or that a person who is in a 30 day program isn’t doing the right thing, just looking at the success rate of long term drug rehabs they have a much higher success rate. Some of the long term drug rehabs even offer a success rate in the neighborhood of 80 percent in some cases even offering a guarantee on the program.

An inpatient drug rehab that is longer termed is the best way to go when trying to find an addiction treatment center either for yourself or a loved one. Drugs and alcohol don’t discriminate. They don’t pick and chose who they want to affect. Families who have a loved one addicted to drugs and alcohol know exactly what it is like to watch this path of destruction. Why do so many people become addicted and why can’t people just quit are questions asked that seem to never be answered.

The good news is there are programs that are looking to cure a person with dependence to drugs and alcohol rather than “treating” it for the rest of their life. These types of programs generally are called a holistic drug rehab. Holistic drug rehabs are usually very effective because they do not believe in replacement drug therapy which means putting a person on a prescribed drug to replace the drug a person is addicted to.

Inpatient Rehab Facility

Residential drug rehabs are more effective than going to see a counselor or attending meetings while living at home for several reasons. People who find themselves suffering from drug or alcohol addiction do not always want to enroll into an inpatient drug rehab. This is generally because they are afraid of leaving home or still are not ready to give up the drugs and alcohol. Unfortunately the person that needs the help the most does not always know what is best. That is why most families take it upon themselves to find the most effective type of rehabilitation program which is not always the easiest.

An inpatient rehab is always better if they offer some type of long term program. A facility that focuses on a holistic type of treatment rather than a program that shovels more drugs to replace the addiction problem is always more effective because the holistic type of treatment gets to the underlying issues. Putting a person on more drugs only masks whatever problems that lay underneath which are the cause of the drug or alcohol addiction.

In researching various types of drug rehab programs remember that an inpatient facility is generally the best. Finding a holistic drug rehab also increases the chances of recovery because not only does it focus on health but allows for the counseling to stick.

Alternative Treatment For Drug Rehab

Sunday, May 25th, 2008

Traditional drug rehab has used replacement drugs as a solution to “treating” addiction. Now that addiction has been medically termed a “disease”, the pharmaceutical industry has made a fortune in the rehabilitation industry by dispensing billions of dollars worth of drugs to psychiatrists to prescribe to alcoholics and addicts. The unfortunate result has been more people addicted to prescription drugs, more suicides, and fewer people overcoming their addiction.

As of recent, alternative drug rehabs have been expanding its form of treatment. Many people who have failed in psychiatric based drug rehabs are looking for different forms of rehabilitation for addiction. One of the most effective drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs is one that uses a bio-physical treatment, and then life skills therapy. These types of programs are usually holistic and promote healthy lives by providing nutrition, exercise, and sauna therapy.

Unfortunately in the Northeast of the US many of these alternative drug rehabs are non-existent because of the heave psychiatric influence. Traveling out of state to enter a drug rehab facility is usually more effective because one of the first forms of treatment is changing a person’s environment. Addiction treatment centers should focus on the individual’s needs rather than a group. Therefore most programs that offer group counseling or group therapy fail at getting to the root problem for an alcoholic or drug addict. Residential drug treatment centers that offer a one on one setting have a higher success rate and is a type program that we recommend.
