I have so much to say I honestly don’t know where to start. There was a time in my life that I was so tormented by substance abuse and so overwhelmed by pain and I was so desperate for a new life.

My substance abuse stopped being fun or feeling good a long time before I actually got clean. It wasn’t about feeling better or escaping, it was necessary. I needed it to feel normal, I needed it to feel not even good but okay, I needed it to cope with everyday living. I needed it to be able to live with myself and the things I had done and the things that had been done to me.

My substance abuse had escalated to such a point that I literally felt soulless. I was emaciated, and felt like a shell of my former self. Physically and spiritually I felt like I was nothing, I had no hope and had certainly lost my faith.

When I entered treatment for substance abuse I was terrified and couldn’t imagine living life even one day without the crutch I had grown so dependent on. Substance abuse had literally taken over my life and I couldn’t see a way out.

I didn’t know how to talk to God or pray. The counselors just kept telling me to talk to him, to tell him how I felt and to ask him to help me. I remember feeling so scared and just started saying over and over again “Please God, please help me”.

When I finally gave myself to God, when I was honest with him, let him help me and let him love me, I finally found myself, I found that I could survive without substance abuse and not only survive, but I could be survive and be happy. I found faith, hope, happiness and I found a way to live without the crutches I thought I needed. When I arrived at the Christian drug rehab I met the nicest people in the world who had real faith!

Today I am married, I have a beautiful little boy and I am living life clean and sober. I take it one day at a time and each day gets better and better. The counselors in treatment for substance abuse held my hand and slowly taught me I could do this on my own.

I would not have made it without the counselor’s help and support. I want express my sincere gratitude to the program. Thank you God for getting me into this program and thank you everyone that helped me for this new chance at life.

With the recent passing of Whitney Houston the country’s attention has started to refocus on alcohol and drug treatment. The same thing happened when we lost Michael Jackson, Heath Ledger, Anna Nicole Smith and watched the struggles of other famous celebrities like Lindsay Lohan and Charlie Sheen. Going into effective treatment can mean the difference between life and death as we have witnessed with the loss of some talented artists. So why are so many not seeking help?

There are several different reasons why a drug addict or alcoholic won’t go into treatment. Often these are unknown or ignored by loved ones who are not sure how to get the person help. The following are the top 3 reasons why your family member or loved one won’t go into a drug or alcohol treatment program and what you can do about it:

1. Urge To Keep Using - When someone is addicted their life becomes centered on getting and using drugs. The individual will usually stop at nothing for their next high and will commit crimes, lie, get angry and sad and even run away to keep using drugs. Addicts give many reasons why they can’t go to rehab but not wanting to stop the use of drugs is usually situated under this.

2. Fear – The withdrawal symptoms of coming off of drugs can be so severe that a person is scared to stop using. Those stopping alcohol, benzodiazepines, heroin, methadone and prescription medications are usually in the worst shape badly physically ill and cravings more drugs. The sickness and cravings are so strong that they continue to drive them back for more.

3. Depression – The emotional letdown from drugs is nearly too much to bear for most addicts. The feelings of depression, anxiety and even paranoia and sadness cause a person to just want to keep using drugs so they don’t have to feel that way anymore. Depression affects the addict for a month of more after they stop using and this is the most frequent cases of relapse. In many cases when a person is suffering from depression and struggling with drug addiction, a dual diagnosis drug rehab is recommended.

There are several things family members and loved ones can do to help the addicted person to get through this difficult time. The first is to insist on long term treatment for them. The second is to not give up on getting them into an alcohol and drug treatment program even if they say they are not ready and want to keep using drugs. In addition to this reading and studying about their specific addiction, and withdrawal symptoms associated with this will help you to better be able to handle the problem in the first few days after drug use.

When a person is suffering from substance abuse a common question is where do you turn for help? Many people never actually go online looking for answers; rather they just “hope” the problem will go away. When dealing with addiction, you must confront it head on and shy away. Going online for help is the best option. There are some very beneficial websites that specialize in education about substance abuse rehab programs.

An addicted individual sometimes does not have the ability to find a program to help them overcome their addiction to substance abuse. This is where a family member or friend is extremely important. When you see that a loved one is struggling with drug addiction or alcohol abuse, don’t wait until it’s too late. Start talking to them now about getting into a substance abuse treatment center. Don’t worry about the drug rehab cost, just focus on getting the agreement of the addict.

If the addict doesn’t want help then there is something else you can do. It’s called a drug intervention or alcohol intervention. Unfortunately when people here of interventions they have usually have heard of the horror stories like the addict pulling out a knife, or trying to fight the family, or never going at all. While these situations do happen, it is very rare, and almost never happens when a professional interventionist was there. When a professional alcohol and drug interventionist properly educates the family and prepares them, the intervention 90 percent of the time is a success and the addicted individual goes to drug rehab.

Heroin is one of the most widely abused opiates in existence that many people only have to try once to immediately become hooked on. Once injected or smoked, its affects are rapidly felt by the user, typically putting them into a dream-like state for as little as a few minutes or longer periods lasting several hours.

Tolerance is an issue with heroin, as many people experience less and less gratification, the longer they use. This means that doses gradually will have to become larger and more frequent in order to get the desired effect.

Due to the fact that heroin produces severe withdrawal symptoms shortly after the drug starts exiting the body, a user will feel that it is necessary to get more in order to avoid:

There are solutions to powerful drug abuse like heroin addiction and if you or a loved one is searching for a heroin rehab with a proven ability to help achieve and maintain lasting sobriety, we are here to help.

So many people never find the right rehab alcohol and drug treatment program. Sometimes people think that it should be something that is a quick fix or a pill that will cure you. This is not true. For a person to overcome alcoholism or drug addiction, hard work and dedication is the key. If you look at it like you have spent years learning poor behavior and not making good decisions, then you have to learn a new life style which takes time not only learning these things but also applying them.

So now that you understand what you should look for lets get more specific in what type of addiction treatment program offers quality rehabilitation. Our research has found that long-term drug rehabs offer the highest success rate. Also, holistic and drug free programs seem to deal with the actual program and not just mask it. Replacement drug therapy masks the problem and doesn’t allow the addict or alcoholic deal with his or her issues

Once you have found some longer termed programs which seem to fit your needs and wants, then you should look at the finances and whether they take insurance or not. Free or government rehabs are usually not a good idea, but you can find an affordable program that offers payment plans and works with various types of insurance companies. Hope this helps in your quest to find a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center.

Many people throughout the world suffer from the disease of alcoholism. This is not surprising news, as many people have the tendency to become addicted to some type of drug and alcohol is inexpensive, legal, and people constantly see advertisements showing drinking alcohol as a fun, social hobby.

The problem is when people become addicted to alcohol. It ruins lives. People lose their jobs, they drink and drive, and it causes a great strain on families who live with an alcoholic. Getting an alcoholic into alcohol rehab is essential for families who deal with another family member’s alcoholism on a daily basis. Getting an alcoholic into rehab is not easy by any means, unless they have a sincere desire to quit on their own. Some alcoholics do capitulate and enter an alcohol detox rehab when they are confronted by family members who insist they get help, such as an intervention. Others will only accept help when they are forced to do so, such as people who are caught drinking and driving.

There are alcohol rehab clinics across the country which can help alcoholics quit drinking. They employ a wide range of methods to help people, and a family can certainty find one to assist their loved one quit drinking once and for all.

Drug addiction can hit anyone and not just ordinary teenagers. Even those who are living in the limelight can be affected as well. And part of addressing this issue is talking about different ways to fight addiction including the drug intervention.

In drug intervention, the family and friends of the addicted person would persist that he should seek the help of the experts so that he could overcome his addiction. And by knowing that these people wanted him (the addict) to change for good would make the patient help himself as well.

Unfortunately, there were some cases that the results of drug intervention are different from what they expected. While others would become more productive, there were some patients who showed more anger and even self-destruction as well. More often than not, it happens if the drug intervention is not facilitated properly. Before implementing the drug intervention it is very vital that you seek the help of someone who is well-educated with the said method and someone who already had an experience doing a drug intervention as well. Also once the intervention is done finding an alcohol treatment center is important.

If the drug intervention that you organized did not ended up so well, remember that it is not the drug addict who failed but you. Always bear in mind that like those who are in hospitals, they too are sick. They just don’t need your help but thorough treatment at the same time. Make sure that you are fully knowledgeable about drug intervention before doing it to the person addicted to drugs especially if he is someone very special to you.

I guess when you’re in the thick of alcohol drug addiction, you can’t see what everyone around you sees. This is the only way I can rationalize what happened to my best friend. She and I grew up together. Always at the top of our class with straight A’s, we went to the same college so we could be near each other. Within 2 years she was in a pretty serious relationship with a guy. I didn’t like him very much, but Amy seemed to like his charming “bad boy” demure. He was a musician—not a college student, and several years older than us.

She finished school and moved away with him to LA. I knew she was struggling with bills and finding a good job, but I didn’t know she was using drugs until I went to surprise her with a visit and found her alone, passed out in the middle of the day—charming boyfriend nowhere to be seen. She had dabbled with drugs in college, but she now was a full-blown opiate addict. She also drank like a fish.

I can’t blame the entire mess on this destructive relationship. It was my duty (as it is everyone’s duty) to be a friend, and I failed. I grew lazy and embroiled in my own life, so much so that I almost let her lose her battle against substance abuse. Her alcohol addiction was really out of control.

I urge everyone to keep their eyes open. Be aware of your loved ones and their struggles. Lend a hand before it’s too late. Drug treatment solutions exist for those battling drug addiction and alcoholism. Also if a person is an alcoholic than try to find an effective alcohol detox as well.

What is an Oxycontin detox and what exactly do they do in the facility? An Oxycontin detox is a treatment program which gently tapers from the medication. In most detox centers, the treatment that is offered is in a hospital setting which is not conducive for a therapeutic environment. One of the reasons why an Oxycontin detox should be in a nice environment is it makes the process quicker and easier.

Oxycontin is an opiate which is very addicting. When a person gets hooked on an opiate, trying to get off of it can be very difficult. One of the reasons this makes it so tough, is the withdraw symptoms. It is very important that the person is medically detoxed off the opiate of Oxycontin. Remember, just going to a hospital is not always a good idea. Trying to find the right detox program is essential and we can help with that.

Not only is detox important but also finding the right treatment program. Most Oxycontin detox and opiate addiction treatment centers also provide counseling as well. One-on-one counseling is important to a successful recovery and is a way to help a person when they leave detox that they will not revert back to drugs. Call today to find an Oxycontin detox and rehab program.

When should a person enter a detox program and what should it be drug specific? Most people who are addicted to drugs and alcohol not only need to rehabilitate but also need to be medically detoxed as well. If an alcoholic does not go to an alcohol detox, than that person can have seizures or other medical problems that can be life threatening. Most of the detox centers in the country are only hospital based which means they don’t specialize in detox. Rather, they use the detox in a medical emergency situation. Meaning if the person is having a life-threatening situation, then the hospital will provide the detox.

If you find yourself not being able to stop than that is an indication that you may need to check yourself into a detox. Remember, when researching drug and alcohol rehabs, make sure that if they don’t provide detox that they have one that they work with. Try not to go to a hospital detox because many times they don’t fully detoxify you properly.

Medical care is not the only important part of detox. Ensuring that they person is on a regimen of vitamins, minerals, and receiving a healthy diet are vital for the body to recover. This will speed up the detox process and allow for the body and brain to recover faster. Remember, the detox program should incorporate medical care and a health program as well.
