Substance Abuse Rehab and Intervention Programs

Wednesday, August 24th, 2011

When a person is suffering from substance abuse a common question is where do you turn for help? Many people never actually go online looking for answers; rather they just “hope” the problem will go away. When dealing with addiction, you must confront it head on and shy away. Going online for help is the best option. There are some very beneficial websites that specialize in education about substance abuse rehab programs.

An addicted individual sometimes does not have the ability to find a program to help them overcome their addiction to substance abuse. This is where a family member or friend is extremely important. When you see that a loved one is struggling with drug addiction or alcohol abuse, don’t wait until it’s too late. Start talking to them now about getting into a substance abuse treatment center. Don’t worry about the drug rehab cost, just focus on getting the agreement of the addict.

If the addict doesn’t want help then there is something else you can do. It’s called a drug intervention or alcohol intervention. Unfortunately when people here of interventions they have usually have heard of the horror stories like the addict pulling out a knife, or trying to fight the family, or never going at all. While these situations do happen, it is very rare, and almost never happens when a professional interventionist was there. When a professional alcohol and drug interventionist properly educates the family and prepares them, the intervention 90 percent of the time is a success and the addicted individual goes to drug rehab.

The Ten Most Important Things To Remember For Drug Rehab

Saturday, September 27th, 2008

The ten most important things to remember before going to rehab are these:
1) Make sure you keep an open mind regarding the treatment and philosophy of the drug rehab program that you have selected and are enrolling into.
2) Traveling out of state into a residential facility far away from home is a good thing. You will make new friends and it will be a fresh start for your new drug free life.
3) Listen to your counselors and if something doesn’t make sense or maybe you don’t agree with something than voice your opinion. If you are going to a private drug rehab remember that you are paying for treatment and you want to get the most out of it.
4) Not all residential drug rehabs are the same. Every program will offer a different living condition and environment.
5) Don’t just pick a program because the rooms look nice or the food is good. Remember that you are there to get your life back; you are not there for a vacation. Find the right type of treatment that is going to help you with your problems and addiction.
6) If the drug rehab facility is requiring a medical detox than do the medical detox and don’t cause any problems.
7) Not all programs take insurance and don’t settle on a program that will work with your insurance. You need to find a workable program with a high success rate.
8) Keeping family involved is important. The more your family and loved ones are all communicating the better it will be when you return home.
9) Take advantage of every opportunity and look at your past as a learning experience that will make you stronger.
10) Be grateful for this opportunity of help and getting your life back.

These are the top ten things a person should do and be aware of before going into a drug and alcohol treatment center

Is Drug Rehab Necessary?

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

Does drug rehab effectively get people off of drugs and restore the moral level to produce a person free from drugs and alcohol? This is a question many families have before selecting a drug rehab program. More importantly as a family should we invest into something where there is no guarantee? How can a recover from drug or alcohol addiction when they don’t even want help? All of these are valid questions which at Alcohol Drug Treatment we hope to answer.

Rarely does an alcoholic or drug addict enter into a residential treatment facility excited. Most addicts and alcoholics have run out of ways to afford their habit and see no other option so finally accept help. Usually families have cut them off financially, emotionally, and given them two options, life or drugs? Most people once they have exhausted all resources and manipulated everyone they know and finally now cut off, they ask for help. Once this occurs you need to move quickly and get them into a drug rehab facility and its best to find a center out of state.

When trying to find the most effective form of treatment ask the addiction counselor who works at the rehab facility. If a person is addicted to cocaine or heroin try to find an effective program that specializes in cocaine treatment or heroin treatment.
