Non 12 Step Rehab
Alternative drug rehab programs are generally the most effect in terms of fully getting a person either off of drugs or alcohol. Traditional types of rehabs like 12 step programs or psychiatric based programs that believe addiction is an incurable disease and must be “treated” with anti-depressants, though been around for ages, do not provide the highest success rate. The most effective type of rehab program is a non 12 step rehab facility.
A non 12 step drug rehab uses alternative methods which are proven to be effective in overcoming drug or alcohol addiction. They do not use group counseling or group therapy and provide an individualized type of setting. It is also nice to know that these programs offer cognitive behavioral therapy and a social education model which helps a person reintegrate back into society with job skills and life skills. Not to mention a non 12 step rehab is generally longer termed which is also very important for an effective drug rehab.
Remember that non traditional programs are always more effective than traditional rehabs. A non 12 step inpatient drug rehab is going to be the best type of program that either you or a loved one who finds themselves addicted to drugs and alcohol. Also the longer the program the better so make sure that the treatment facility provides long term drug rehabs.

I’m open to whatever helps an addict get and remain sober. If a non-traditonal method works, great! if a traditional 12 step program works, great!! No two addicts are the same.
I know many people who remain sober and great parts of society. The most important thing is to have a true desire and that no matter what you won’t pick up again.

What a great subject, myself I have different thoughts about the 12 steps, I too have tried it, I have been clean and dry for nearly a year. For me the first step hit home very hard. Denial, I was denying every thing, even denied I was in denial. Then once that kicked in, I started to realise what I was doing. A great blog and very interesting, look forward for more on the subject

Stemo…you and I have something in common..I too was in denial that I was in denial. I am all about people doing whatever it takes to stay clean. If there is a better way than the 12 step program than more power to it. What I found by working the 12 steps is that I never really got over my resentments. I’ve done some alternative things in recovery and have finally found peace. Thank goodness!
