Recovery rates are so low because once a person leaves rehab - they're not prepared for the changes that they need to make to their lifestyles to stay clean long-term. Rehab is typically 4-6 weeks (sometimes longer depending where you go) - but recovery is something you do for the REST OF YOUR LIFE. And recovery takes work - creating habits and typically following a 12-step program that you have to work at constantly to avoid relapse. People often leave rehab and think that's the hard work done with - but that's where it only begins. It takes a certain level of commitment to make the changes you need to make post rehab - and too many people aren't prepared to do that, hence why they relapse.
