Alcohol & Drug Addiction Treatment

The 60-year-old Aerosmith lead singer has reportedly entered a private drug rehab where Dr. Drew’s “Celebrity Rehab” was staged.

While the report wasn’t specific, Tyler, who once said, “Four rehabilitation centers for drug abuse later, I’ve been able to take a long, hard look at my behavior,” is said to be receiving treatment for drug and alcohol addiction.

The news comes just two years after Tyler publicly revealed he’d been diagnosed with hepatitis C, a dangerous liver disease that claims 8,000 to 10,000 lives a year in the United States. Tyler claims he has since cleared the disease from his bloodstream, and while it’s not known how he contracted it, users who inject illicit drugs can transmit the disease by sharing needles or other drug paraphernalia. While a person is using drugs these types of diseases can flare up and cause a person more damage than if they were clean.

Of course, Tyler’s no stranger to addiction. In the 1970s and early 1980s, “the Demon of Screamin’ ” was known for his drug and alcohol abuse both on- and offstage, which garnered him and lead guitarist Joe Perry the nickname “the Toxic Twins.” Tyler successfully received treatment for his addiction and had kicked his drug habit for well over 20 years.

With Tyler in a drug rehab program, people will wonder why he is choosing this type of treatment facility. There are so many different drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers that finding the right one can be difficult. What we recommend is finding a long term drug rehab that addresses the underlying issues and then focuses on life skills therapy.
