Effective Drug Rehab Facility

January 22nd, 2010

Locating a drug rehab facility can be tough. Especially for people who are looking for one on the internet. Alcohol and drug treatment is now offering assistance in finding the most effective drug and alcohol rehab program in your area. Many of the drug rehabs that are offered are usually a traditional type of 12 step rehab which does not always have a high success rate.

A good residential drug rehab facility always is better than a rehab that only offers outpatient. A residential drug rehab is always the best type of drug rehab when a person is addicted to alcohol, heroin, cocaine, or prescription drugs.

So remember, don’t settle for a short term rehab or an outpatient program. Make sure that if you are sending your loved one into a drug rehab make sure it is long term. inpatient and residential. Also making sure it is a holistic treatment is also a good idea because rehabs that just prescribe more drugs are ineffective.

The Importance Of Effective Drug Rehab Centers

December 11th, 2009

Today, drug rehab programs are so widespread.  It seems that drug use and addiction is as common as asthma.  Alcohol addiction, another big one.  Drug addiction is so common in Hollywood, and often time’s kids are imitating the movie stars that they aspire to be.

It is important to find a drug rehabilitation center that will work for you. Today, you can consult with a specialist who will help place yourself or your loved one who is suffering from drug addiction or alcohol addiction.  Often times these specialists were once heavy users who attended these same drug rehab centers and turned their lives around so much that they are helping others overcome serious issues in their lives.

These professionals are extremely helpful throughout the entire process of recognizing a drug addiction and being able to offer advice in recommending the drug rehabilitation center that will ultimately be effective.  They will stay in contact with the person in need of help throughout orientation and during the program and even when the patient is released and is back in society faced with the challenge of staying clean.  These are all experiences many of the caseworkers have and can offer their expertise in solving drug addiction.

We Found An Effective Drug Rehab Center

November 26th, 2009

So I found myself in a bad place. I was thirty four years old and I
was still living paycheck to paycheck. Didn’t have any money saved,
had a ton of debt. I thought maybe this was because of my drinking
and drug use. I didn’t do coke or harder drugs, I just stuck with
beer and whiskey and pot. I finally realized at thirty four years of
age that it was time to finally get myself clean and a contributing
member of society.

I started looking into drug rehab programs. I wouldn’t really
classify myself as a big time drug user, but many of these drug rehabilitation
centers offer inpatient drug rehab for those who suffer from alcohol
addiction, which is closely linked to drug addiction.

In Florida, drug rehab is easy to find if you go through the right
channels. They offer non 12 step rehab and holistic drug rehab, and
you go can get into contact with the drug rehab center through a
professional case worker, who will help you along the entire process
and will follow up with you when you have completed your time in
rehab.

Traditional Treatment vs. Alternative Treatment

November 15th, 2009

Why is it that there are so many traditional type of drug rehabs and not very many non 12 step programs available.  I think it is because of the insurance companies who are in bed with the people who lobby for the 12 step rehabs in Washington DC.  They are so ineffective the only reason why they would still be continuing on paying for rehab is someone is getting paid money.  With so many advances in science and medicine it is clear that holistic and alternative types of rehabs offer the most effective type of treatment.

Over the years the idea that addiction is a disease has been an argument and of controversy.  Finally the truth is coming out in the medical field that addiction is not a medical disease rather it is a behavior decision a person makes.  Obviously there are environmental, social, and mental reasons a person turns to drugs but ultimately he made the decision to use.

When an addicted individual finally comes to grip with this idea in a drug rehab program, usually they begin to understand why and then can make the right choices in getting better.  These are important issues in rehabilitating a person and making sure that the drug addiction treatment center is effective.  Remember finding a rehabilitation program that is alternative to the 12 step treatment program is the best.

Addiction Treatment Blog

November 4th, 2009

There are so many different types of drug and alcohol treatment modules offered in the US.  Finding the most effective addiction rehab program is essential in the recovery process.  This addiction treatment blog has data about addiction, rehab, treatment, detox, counseling, and medical help.  Our goal at Alcohol and Drug Treatment is to provide families with referrals to long term addiction treatment centers that offer real help for drug addiction or alcoholism.  Many rehabilitation counselors will tell you that “our program is the best.”  Once a person has heard this several times from several different rehabilitation programs a person can become confused.  Our goal is to help give a non-biased referral to the most effective program based on the individual needs and wants.

Treating the physical cravings, emotional aspects of addiction, and mental cravings are all key components of effective rehab.  The best order when rehabbing a person from drug or alcohol would be detox first.  Once a person is detoxed than the drug rehab program would provide counseling to get to the underlying issues.  The final step would be life skills therapy and training procedures.  This will help the person how to live life drug and alcohol free.

Texas Drug Rehab

November 4th, 2009

Texas drug rehab is now offering alternative treatment programs to end addiction.  Texas drug treatment that provides intensive counseling with life skills therapy is not only hard to find but can be confusing to know which one is the best.  Generally the longer the program the better off the addicted individual is.  The farther you get a person away from the drug abusing environment, far away from the friends that lead a person to addiction should never be a distraction from treatment.  Generally a successful Texas drug rehab should have a medical detox as well.

Texas drug interventions are most effective when family is involved.  The more family support the better.  Don’t get discouraged if you feel that a loved one is not ready to accept help.  Most people addicted to drugs and alcohol is not receptive to entering into a residential drug rehab or long term facility.  In this case a drug or alcohol intervention is necessary.

Drug And Alcohol Educational Programs

November 4th, 2009

At the rate we’re going in America, drug rehab centers will never go out of business. If it seems to you that we have at all put a dent in the illicit drug problem then your hopes will be dampened by the fact that prescription drug abuse has now reared its ugly head as an even bigger issue.

Back in the day, you perhaps noticed all your Grandmother’s medications would go missing when you brought certain friends over. Nowadays, doctors irresponsibly misdiagnose young children and adults and prescribe highly addictive medications which patients become dependent on. And of course there’s the crafty criminal and drug addict who knows how to abuse the system; he knows what to say to be diagnosed as “bi-polar,” so he can get some pills to take and to sell to his friends. In schools and on the streets, youth are confronted with both illicit and prescription drugs. Both highly addictive and both potentially deadly.

It is time for a nation-wide prevention campaign. While I whole-heartedly support effective treatment solutions (and have been blessed to have found the right program for both my husband and my brother), it is time for a national prevention campaign. If the American government wants to wage a REAL war on drugs, we need to start young by giving kids the truth about drugs.

Current prevention campaigns in schools are teaching children that drug abuse is inevitable along with “safe” methods to use drugs. This apathetic approach to educating children simply agrees with society’s moral decline and does nothing to PREVENT further drug abuse. A recent prevention campaign that a lot of programs that offered a non 12 step rehab study showed that children, when given the truth about drugs, decided not to use drugs and stayed off drugs up to two years after being indoctrinated.

Today’s children are tomorrow’s civilization. It’s time we look at what kind of world we are leaving behind.

What type of drug rehab program is the best?

November 4th, 2009

A drug rehab program is something that is not always easy to find. How long should the treatment be, should they have medical staff, should it be inpatient or outpatient, does it need a detox or maybe a good program requires all of these. Drug and alcohol treatment should fit the needs of the addicted individual. Whether they have a lack of life skills, self-esteem issues, education problems and maybe unhealthy both emotionally and physically finding the right drug rehab facility is crucial.

Alcohol and drug treatment has researched thousands of programs throughout the US and found all different types of treatment modalities. Generally we would recommend a program that is longer termed that provides life skills therapy, and individualized counseling. Sometimes a medical detox is necessary for certain prescription drugs, alcohol and some opiates like heroin and methadone.

Many families who have a loved one addicted to drugs and alcohol find themselves exhausted in trying to convince the addicted individual to accept help. Most drug addicts and alcoholics are scared or are so addicted the thought of quitting is to hard to swallow. Drug and alcohol interventions are necessary in this type of situation. Interventions are very effective and once they are finished usually the loved one is being escorted to a drug rehab center.

Non 12 Step Drug And Alcohol Rehabilitation

November 4th, 2009

A Non 12 step rehab is probably the best form of drug treatment available. Whether a person is addicted to drugs or alcohol finding the right type of rehab is essential to having a successful recovery. Alternative drug rehabs that also incorporate holistic treatment would be considered a non 12 step program. Heroin, cocaine, alcohol, marijuana, and prescription drugs are the main drugs that cause to need rehabilitation. Some of these like heroin, alcohol and prescription drugs require a person to enter some type of medical detox which helps taper a person gently so the addicted individual will not experience severe withdrawal symptoms.

Unfortunately the traditional 12 step programs are in bed with the pharmaceutical, psychiatric and insurance industry so that the 12 steps are considered the medical treatment of choice. There are very few non 12 step rehabs that take insurance. There are a few that do and that is very rare that a non 12 step drug rehab can do that because of the suppressive actions of the insurance and pharmaceutical industry.

Remember, if you are tired of being told you have an incurable disease, and that you are powerless and control less, find a good non 12 step rehab. They will get to the underlying issues of why a person is abusing drugs and alcohol and then rehabilitate those issues while teaching a person life skills so that they can live a happy and drug free life.

Why Is Drug Rehabilitation Important For Celebrities

September 24th, 2009

In her 20’s, with a successful singing/songwriting career in the 1930s and 40s and nicknamed “Lady Day”, Billie Holiday was a highly influential and important artist as she contributed to the beginning of a new genre of music – jazz. She is recognized by her deep, sultry and vibrant voice, dissonant notes and her emotionally impacting songs such as “Strange Fruit” and “Lover Man”.

But, like other artists in her time, drug abuse and alcohol were prominent. She started using hard drugs in the early 1940s when she was in her mid-20s. This only led to a down trend in her life outside of song, and eventually her death. Arrested several times, Holiday was convicted in 1947 for possession of opium and had her New York City Cabaret Card revoked, meaning she could no longer perform or work in any club for the remaining 12 years of her life. By the late 40s/early 50s her health was noticeably deteriorating. The drug and alcohol abuse had adversely affected her voice and it was heard in her performances as it didn’t have that same vibrant beauty it once did. Lady Day, once a lady of beauty, art and genuine emotion, was now a physically and mentally wasted fragile form of herself.

Weakened by hard drug and alcohol abuse and liver and heart disease, she was taken into the hospital in May of 1959 with only $0.70 in her bank account and $750 on her person. Police were at the doors waiting to arrest her for possession of drugs even as she lay dying in her hospital bed, when only a month before she had been arrested for possession of narcotics. She died two months later the day after the police were instructed to leave.

This is a sad ending for the story of such an influential and beautiful singer! She really should’ve been helped much, much earlier.

Artists play an important role in the world – to create futures. Holiday played a big role in the creation of jazz – which had a large impact of change in society as well as influence over other genres of music, but she was stopped short at a young age. I, for one, am glad to have long term drug rehab programs today where artists like Billie Holiday can go to help themselves dig out of the dark, downward spiral of drug and alcohol abuse so they can live to contribute their aesthetic pieces of art to society and create hope for the future.
